Some Extra Detail

PERMABOND® TA4610 is a 2-part, 1:1 toughened acrylic adhesive. It has been developed to bond low surface energy plastics such as polypropylene and polyethylene – with no primer or surface treatment required. It can also be used to bond a wide variety of other materials such as metals and composite materials and is ideal for bonding dissimilar surfaces.

Surface Preparation Prior to Using Permabond TA4610

Surfaces should be clean, dry and grease-free before applying the adhesive. Polyolefin surfaces may have traces of mold release agent present – wipe with isopropanol (IPA) solvent and allow to fully evaporate before bonding. If bonding to metal: some metals such as aluminium, copper and its alloys will benefit from light abrasion with emery cloth (or similar) to remove the oxide layer.

How To Use Permabond TA4610

1) Ensure that the surfaces you plan to bond are clean, dry, and free from grease.
2) Apply a thin bead of the adhesive, which has been pre-mixed, through a static mixer nozzle.
3) Assemble the components that need to be bonded and use clamps to hold them together.
4) Maintain pressure on the bonded components until they achieve handling strength. The time required for this step will vary depending on the specific joint design and the types of surfaces being bonded.
5) Allow the adhesive to fully cure, which typically takes 24-36 hours. Note that any excess adhesive outside of a closed joint will cure more slowly and may remain soft due to exposure to air, whereas adhesive inside the joint will cure solid.
