Some Extra Detail

PERMABOND® TA4611 is a versatile 2-part acrylic adhesive designed for bonding various materials, including low surface energy plastics like polypropylene and polyethylene, without the need for primers or costly surface treatments. It can also bond metals, composite materials, and dissimilar surfaces effectively. Notably, it is similar to TA4610 but lacks micro beads, making it suitable for smaller gap joints.

Surface Preparation Prior to Using Permabond TA4611

Before applying the adhesive, it is crucial to prepare the surfaces properly. Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free from grease. For polyolefin surfaces, check for any traces of mold release agent. If present, clean the surface with isopropanol (IPA) solvent and let it completely evaporate before bonding. When bonding to metals like aluminum, copper, or their alloys, it's advisable to lightly abrade the surface using emery cloth or a similar abrasive material to remove the oxide layer - this enhances the adhesive's bond strength.

How To Use Permabond TA4611

1) Ensure that the surfaces you plan to bond are clean, dry, and free from grease.
2) Apply a thin layer of the adhesive, which has been pre-mixed, through a static mixer nozzle.
3) Assemble the components that need to be bonded and use clamps to hold them together.
4) Maintain pressure on the bonded components until they achieve handling strength. The time required for this step will vary depending on the specific joint design and the types of surfaces being bonded.
5) Allow the adhesive to fully cure, which typically takes 24-36 hours. Note that any excess adhesive outside of a closed joint will cure more slowly and may remain soft due to exposure to air, whereas adhesive inside the joint will cure solid.
